Overtow
03:29
|
|||
Then, we could laugh about it
Pretend like we were only kids
Less severe than too austere, we buckled ourselves in
To draft out our retreat again
As the lucky ones
As the lonely ones
But we’ve since mulled about it
And found our feelings so unfair
The sooner you could do it, too, the better off; you’re overdue
For deliverance from anguish and despair
I’ve got to say that I believe in you
Even if I’ve lost all my faith in you
Nothing you say could make me understand
I’ve got to say that I’m a friend to you
Even if I could never depend on you
Nothing you say could help me understand
Now, here we are without it
So adrift of whom we’d hoped we’d be
If this is faith, I doubt it
United to agree to disagree
As the lucky ones
As the lonely ones

Just Build A Metaphor
04:26
|
|||
What a penchant for repentance
When I can’t even finish my sentence
Honestly, maybe you just honor dishonesty
Leisurely redefine leisure,
Faced with simple desperate measures
And water it down with some modern philosophy
I never said that I was fine
I’m underworked on overtime
And splayed out like a sacrificial sheep
Destiny is destined to tempt us
Into thinking we’re not pretentious
Small talk is expensive and critiques are distinctly cheap
How’d you take stock in something you’d just as soon as sell as you would defend?
How could ya?
When you say it don’t phase you much
I’m pretty sure that you’re not trying
Could be your appetite for distraction
Why would anything take hold
If heads or tails or hot or cold
Or right or wrong, no in between
With all that I could promise, with all that I could say
With all the doubt in Thomas, what more could I allay?
And nowadays, you prefer to paraphrase
Until the message suits the armor you wield
You want the truth, but you suspect
Upon its advent - incorrect
The facts just ain’t enough to reveal
But surely you are aching to be reborn within the light
For real, I’m trying to make you cry
‘cause some day you’re gonna up and die
Holding onto all you maligned
For real, the palace of love or guilt
That all your life you’ve demolished or built
Is all that you’ll leave behind
All the false equations and affectations
Congratulations, you fail
If all of us were honest, we’ve all become clichés

Austerity
02:45
|
|||
Could you please stop for a moment while I sort out my life
You see, I feel I’ve finally fallen victim to the shadow inside
It’s not like every instance I’ve perceived
But it made sure the message was received
And still I feel, it wasn’t all that long ago when we set out on that ride
I’ve got to say that it never made sense
You never want to take the best of it
And lump it all together as you fail
You pick out the thorns and you grab by the horns
And you leave all the evidence scattered and torn
And you make your way towards a place that isn’t there
But you’ll get somewhere, that you’ll see
The other side where you’d be free
The open-ended promise of a dream
¡Oye me! El mas tarde en llegar es el primero al regresar.
I promise you I ain’t gonna lie
These aren’t my favorite odds
This ain’t my ideal fight
But next thing you know,
When you can’t look it in the eye
It becomes more than it ever mattered
And worse than it ever got before
So, could you please stop for a moment while I sort out my life
Because I finally feel like it’s become seminal
To be less of a crook and more like a criminal
With careless a heart and keener a mind
To set it ablaze and leave it all behind

The Other Way Down
03:11
|
|||
If it was present day, well I’d rather not say
But the story should be told somehow
It might have just been nothing if the dealer was bluffing,
But it sure is something now
We were almost home safe from another long day
As we each began to split and fall out
Exchanged some final goodbyes we didn’t even realize
Said we’ll catch you on the other way down
Then, we heard someone saying something
Cover up in cautious disguise
Ain’t it a terror how things blow in the wind
When it first blew through, it murdered more than just a few
And we couldn’t seem to suss a plan out
It was then we conceded to the siege on our sleeves
And had to calculate another way around
Man, I hate to say, while we were digging our graves,
Well, we shoveled into shit, somehow
We’d thought we’d surfed the curse, but the affliction got worse
And then, we had to go and shut it all down
Then, we heard someone saying something
Them unverified real lies
It ain’t just answers that can blow in the wind, my friend
Braving interminable days, we were staying home safe
But there were some that couldn’t shake that sound
Whispering in their ears, selling solicited fears
And they defected on the shields and crawled out
Well, the rebels got shucked from shoving their luck
But the lesson must be learned somehow
It may just pay to wait when it’s really not safe
And you can catch it on the other way down

OMG
03:53
|
|||
Oh my God, men are all the same
All they ever want is someone to blame
Though they try and try to wrangle and pull on the reigns
So by and by, someone will remember their name
Oh my God, women are all the same
All they ever want is something to change
So they try and try for a reasonable stake of the claim
And by and by, they’re cited for all their complaints
All we’ve got, on second thought, are feelings
Limit’s scot-free, kid you not, the sky when there aren’t ceilings
Oh my God, we’re all the same
All we ever want is to view the remains
So, we try and try to convince everyone it’s ordained
Thereby and by, all of it goes down the drain

Little, if-only girl, what an unpleasant world
That’s always trying to break you
Your such a tragedy of pity and pageantry
How victimized that must make you
At least you’ve got it made
And you can hide your smile behind that face
And know that everything will work out fine
I can’t relate to the pain that plagues you; a pestilence of pride
You can’t just wait and anticipate to live a life you haven’t tried
At least you’ve got it made
You have a choice in how your cards are played
The dealer knows your game
And he’s on your side
Little, if-only girl, you seem to wear it well
As if destined for defect
Decked out in casualties with money-back guarantees
Just like a luxury reject
At least you’ve got it made
All across the board in every way
The character you play is all inside your mind

Low Down Dirty Shame
02:56
|
|||
Everyone we count on gets stuck in a position where they’re prone
The only way to save them is figure out a way to bring them home
But all we ever do is dignify the flames we won’t condone
As absolute as ashes, we’re burning all the same
It’s a low down dirty shame
Someone change the station. Someone find a way to turn them off
Nevermind the bullocks, concern ourselves with matters more distraught
And though they choose the answers with outright intent to keep us caught,
As serious as cancer, we’re equally to blame
It’s a low down dirty shame

How’d You Feel
07:16
|
|||
Why, by any means, should I be sorry for thee?
As helpless as I may seem
Don’t you rely. Don’t you rely on your wits?
Try as you might, you’ll only forget
And there’s nothing left to quit, anyway
But how’d you feel if all you needed was a lift?
Shit, man. You got it.
You’ve got a lot of things going for you
You’ve done a lot of things, right?
You’re not the only one that’s hoping for you
You’re not a victim of such short sight
There’s someone out there aching for you
There’s someone out there, right?
On this channel
You aren’t the only one feeling for you
You aren’t the only one, right?
If you’re the only one rooting for you,
Then, you’re a victim of such far sight
There’s someone out operating for you
You’ll have another call, right?
I’ve got a feeling it doesn’t matter, anyway
So, how’d you feel if you worked the other shift?
I know you feel bad when you pull the curtains in
But how’d you feel if the walls were caving with?
